Standing 6’4”, weighing 255lbs and equipped with major Knockout Power, Shane Carwin is one of the most dangerous heavyweights in Mixed Martial Arts. His Unbeaten 11-0 record features 6 Knockouts and 5 Submissions and has never gone past the first round.

Mike: Thanks for taking the time to do this interview with us Shane. I wanted to start off by seeing how you are doing?
Carwin: Really good, just training and healing my knee.

Mike: I know you said with the postponed Lesnar fight, you were going to get some injuries fixed up. How's that going and what did you have done?
Carwin: No surgery just had to do some rehab on a strained MCL. I am working with the Steadman Hawkins clinic and they are doing a great job in getting me back in shape.

Mike: I also wanted to get your thoughts on the Lesnar situation?
Carwin: I feel bad for the guy. He has gone from bad to worse and he still has a long recovery road ahead of him. I think most of us fighters wish no real ill will upon our opponents. We want to fight the best and Brock is the top guy in my class, so I am honored to be in a position to fight him. I hope he recovers and is a 100% sooner then later.

Mike: Do you still feel the fight will take place? Say before the end of 2010 maybe?
Carwin: I really hope so; it is what the fans want. It all depends on his health.

Mike: Let's talk Cain Valesquez. Is that a fight you would like?
Carwin: I have a ton of respect for Cain and feel he is one of the top contenders. If that is a fight they wanted me to take, I would gladly take it. I was scheduled to face him at UFC 104 and would be honored to fight him.

Mike: How do you feel the two of you would match up in the cage?
Carwin: I see myself knocking him out. His wrestling won't be a tool he can rely on and I would want to keep it standing and test his jaw.

Mike: Do you feel that being an undefeated fighter in the UFC puts a bull’s-eye on your chest? And that fighters may want to fight you, just to try and give you that loss?
Carwin: No I think most fighters know losing is a possibility in every fight, so I am not worried about staying undefeated. I want to put on exciting fights and give the fans their moneys worth.

Mike: Other then yourself, the UFC is starting to really build the HW roster with guys like Dos Santos, Valesquez, Duffee, Nelson, and even Kimbo. Who do you think will be the first of that new crop to get a title shot (after yours)?
Carwin: I see Cain or Dos Santos and also guys like Nog, etc. who can still be big factors.

Mike: Would you ever consider being a coach on The Ultimate Fighter if it was offered?
Carwin: It is hard to say, I value the time I have with my family and being away from them would be tough. If it was in the summer and I had the ability to bring them with me, I would consider it. That being said I am a fighter who needs to be coached as I am learning the sport. I think the legends should be coaches as they have the experience and knowledge these young guys need.

Mike: There was some controversy on the judging in the Tito vs Forrest fight (both times I guess)… who did you think won this last one, and what's your thoughts on the judging in MMA?
Carwin: I think it was close. Tito gave that third round away like he felt he had the first two in the bag. Not finishing your opponents is the worse thing you can do. You never know what the judge is seeing and valuing as points. I really think leaving it in the judges’ hands means you can't complain about the outcome. You allowed that risk into the evenings fight.

Mike: Split HW into two weight classes 205-235 and 235-265 are you for or against that?
Carwin: Totally against it. Brock and myself are the HW standards, bulk up or go 205. The spread is big, but early UFC's show that size is not all you need to win. I think size matters and you can't be a lazy HW… you have to be big, fast and powerful to be on top.

Mike: What's it like seeing your own MMA card that's out now? And any word if you will be in the next videogame?
Carwin: It is pretty cool, I got paid to sign cards and usually when I sign my name I am the one committing to something. I am going to be in the UFC Undisputed 2010 is the word.

Mike: What's the one song/cd you have that you don't want anyone to find out you listen to?
Carwin: (laughs) Probably the kids DVD's that my son likes.

Mike: Best of luck in your next fight Shane! Is there anything you would like to add?
Carwin: Just a big thanks to my coaches, training partners and management team. Also thanks to Max Muscle, Beaver Buzz Energy Drink, MTX Audio, Nightrider Jewelry, PerformanceMMA.com and my fans.
