The nickname “Quick” sums Mike Swick really
well. Always exciting to watch and loves to finish, Swick is on a four
fight winning streak in the UFC and on his way to a well deserved welterweight
title shot, if he gets through his next opponent Dan Hardy at UFC 105.
Mike: What sets the UFC apart from other organizations?
Swick: The UFC is the biggest and most marketed organization for MMA.
Mike: You were originally supposed to take on
Martin Kampmann, but Paul Daley took your place after an injury... what
were your thoughts on that fight?
Swick: It was not what I predicted, but I wasn't all that surprised.
Daley is a very good striker.
Mike: Your next opponent is Dan Hardy... what
are your thoughts on Dan?
Swick: He is a tough opponent. Very good striking and he's solid on
the ground. I think its going to be a very exciting fight.
Mike: How do you feel the two of you matchup?
MS: Like water and oil. Only one will rise to the top...
Mike: And how do you think this fight will end?
MS: With someone asking their corner man "What happened?"
Mike: After this fight, if you win… your possible
next opponent would be St. Pierre. How do you feel you matchup with
him?
MS: It would be a life long dream-come-true to fight for a title. It
has motivated me since joining the UFC. I think I matchup good with
him. I think I bring in an element that his other opponents didn't have.
Mike: You have been vocal about wanting a fight
with Matt Hughes as well, is that something you would still like to
do at some point?
Swick: Yes for sure. He is one of the most decorated fighters of all
time. Why not? I asked for him because he was available and I needed
an opponent.
Mike: You were on The Ultimate Fighter, is that
something you would do again? Either as a coach or where they bring
back fighters from previous seasons?
Swick: I would love to be a coach, that would be really cool!
Mike: On the UFC 105 card, which you face Hardy…
Randy Couture will also be taking on Brandon Vera, what are your thoughts
on that matchup?
Swick: That is a great matchup and I like both fighters a lot.
Mike: What is it about AKA, that makes it one
of the best camps out there… especially at Welterweight?
Swick: It’s all because of our team and because of our trainers.
Mike: Anderson Silva is going to be facing Vitor
Belfort next… do you think Anderson will remain unbeaten in the UFC
after this one?
Swick: He could.... but I think Vitor could catch him too. I am pretty
excited for this one!
Mike: What about the hardest you have taken?
Swick: I took a good one from (David) Loiseau.
Mike: Thanks for the time… and I look forward
to your fight at UFC 105. |
