Mike: How are you
doing?
Cung Le: Good…Good.
Mike: Well let’s start out with a little bit
of your Martial Arts background.
Le: My background is TKD, Traditional Kung Fu, San Shou, both High School
and College Wrestling, and now MMA.
Mike: And how did you make that transition into
MMA?
Le: I was talked into it by Javier Mendez, he said I had basically done
all that I could in San Shou and I should try this.
Mike: Since your transition in MMA what has
been your most memorable moment?
Le: Beating Frank Shamrock, was my most memorable moment.
Mike: That was a good fight, did it go how you
expected?
Le: Yeah, it went pretty much how I thought; the only thing that caught
me off guard was that he had the timing on my spinning back kicks down.
Mike: How’s training, still at AKA?
Le: yes, I train at AKA and also at my gym Universal Strength Headquarters.
Mike: Could you tell us a little bit about your
gym?
Le: Universal Strength Headquarters is about 9,000sf…it has 4,000 of
Mats, a full cage and a weight/conditioning area.
Mike: Sounds nice, so there has been some talk
lately about you and the UFC...any truth to that?
Le: I think its a lot of the forums. They said I believe that a fight
between Silva and I was the second most wanted fight. There has been
a little talk, but I am in Strikeforce...and they would have to do something
like when they brought in Royce Gracie to fight Matt Hughes.
Mike: On the topic of Silva, how do you think
that fight would play out?
Le: I don’t know how it would play out, but I would be game to fight.
I would get in and out and would not be intimidated by his striking.
Mike: I really want to see that fight!
Le: Yeah, I think a lot of fans would like this fight to happen.
Mike: So any word on when you will fight next?
Le: I will probably be out for the rest of the year, because of a movie.
So not until early next year, unless something comes up again.
Mike: Is there anyone you would like to fight
next?
Le: You know what, right now with all this talk lately about it…its
stuck in my head that I would like to fight Anderson Silva, it would
be an interesting fight.
Mike: I agree. You recently filmed Tekken where
you played Martial Law…how was that?
Le: Tekken was a very great experience for me. I played the game a lot,
and used that character. So being in the movie was very interesting
and exciting for me.
Mike: And you mentioned another movie you are
working on, is that the Sci-Fi movie?
Le: Yes. It is a Science Fiction movie with Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster.
The director is an up and comer out of Germany, Christian Alvart and
it’s just a big budget film that will hit theaters late next year.
Mike: I will keep my eye out for it. Last two
questions. If you could play matchmaker and there were no orgs. restricting
fighters. What is one fight you would love to see?
Le: Fedor vs Randy.
Mike: That’s a popular answer. Ok, if they made
a movie about your life, what would it be titled and who would play
you?
Le: hmm…I dont know. I never thought of it. Maybe it could be called
"The American Dream" or something like that.
Mike: Sounds Good. Anything you want to close
with?
Le: Yeah, I just wanted to thank all the fans for their support and
my gym Universal Strength Headquarters. Also if you want to keep up
with my movies check out www.imbd.com, and for info on my next fights
check www.cungle.com
Mike: alright, thank you and good luck!
Le: Thank you. |
